Notice is hereby given that The Scottish Coal Company Limited (a Company registered in Scotland, Company Number SC154655) has applied to the Scottish Ministers for consent under Section 36 of The Electricity Act 1989 to construct and operate a wind farm at Spireslack between Muirkirk, East Ayrshire and Glespin, South Lanarkshire (centre point of wind farm at grid reference NS 764 297). The installed capacity of the proposed generating station would be no more than 59.6mw. The application is accompanied by an Environmental Statement.
Scottish Coal Company Limited has also applied for a direction under Section 57(2) of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 that planning permission for the development be deemed to be granted.
The land to which the application relates lies to the north of the A70 Edinburgh – Ayr road approximately 3km west of Glespin and approximately 6km east of Muirkirk as shown by the map accompanying the application.

A copy of the Environmental Statement may be obtained on CD for the sum of £5 (per ES) or in paper form (in 3 volumes) for £100 - cheques should be made payable to The Scottish Coal Company Limited and sent to Castlebridge Business Park, Gartlove, Alloa, Clackmannanshire FK10 3PZ. Any objections or representations to the application should be made in writing to Howard Steele, The Scottish Executive, Consents and Emergency Planning Unit, 2nd Floor, Meridian Court, 5 Cadogan Street, Glasgow G2 6AT, (energyconsents@scotland.gov.uk) identifying the proposal and specifying the grounds for objection, not later than 23 June 2005.
