Treaty between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the French Republic concerning the implementation of frontier controls at the sea ports of both countries on the Channel and North Sea.

Notice is hereby given that the Treaty between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the French Republic, signed at Le Touquet on 4th February 2003, will enter into force on 1st February 2004. Accordingly, the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 (Juxtaposed Controls Order) 2003 will come into force on the same date, with the exception of Article 10 which came into force on 5th November 2003. The Order gives effect to the Le Touquet Treaty which enables UK Immigration Officers to exercise their powers within a dedicated control zone at designated French seaports on the Channel. The Government of the French Republic will be able to operate similar controls at designated sea ports in the UK on the Channel and North Sea. Juxtaposed controls will be established initially at Dover, Calais, Dunkirk and Boulogne.
