ROADS (SCOTLAND) ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that Shetland Islands Council propose to make an Order under Section 68(1) of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 stopping-up the lengths of road described in the Schedule hereto.

The title of the Order is “The Shetland Islands Council (A968 Brookpoint to Setter, Unst) (Stopping Up) Order 2003”.

A copy of the proposed Order and of the accompanying plan showing the lengths of road to be stopped-up together with a statement of the reasons for the making of the Order have been deposited at the office of Head of Roads Service, Shetland Islands Council, Toll Clock Centre, Lerwick. These documents are available for inspection free of charge from Monday to Friday during normal Shetland Islands Council office hours.

Any person may, within 28 days from 31st October 2003 object to the making of the Order by notice in writing to the address below. Objections should state the name and address of the objector, the matters to which they relate and the grounds on which they are made.

SCHEDULE

1. That length of the former A968 Belmont - Haroldswick Road commencing at a point 70 metres south of the south access to Setters Quarry and proceeding in a generally northerly direction for a distance of 140 metres, a length of 210 metres or thereby;
2. That length of the former A968 Belmont - Haroldswick Road commencing at the Brookpoint Junction and proceeding in a generally south - easterly direction for a distance of 80 metres or thereby;
3. That length of the former B9087 Haroldswick - Norwick Road commencing at the Brookpoint Junction and proceeding in a generally north - westerly direction for a distance of 35 metres or thereby;
4. That length of the former B9086 Haroldswick - Burrafirth Road commencing at the Brookpoint Junction and proceeding in a generally westerly direction for a distance of 23 metres or thereby.
