KIER CONSTRUCTION LIMITED
Kier Construction Limited (Mining Division) (“the Promoter”) has applied to the Light Railway Commissioners under and by virtue of the Light Railways Act 1896 for a Light Railway Order authorlsing the construction of the after described railway in connection with the Greenburn Opencast Coal Project.
The Promoter proposes to construct a light railway around 3.5km in length, comprising a single track, commencing at a point some 650m from the Bank Junction on the Knockshinnoch Branch of the Glasgow and South Western main line, grid reference NS607137, substantially along the course of a disused mineral railway (including the formation of a level crossing at Woodend, New Cumnock, grid reference NS598134) via the former Afton Brickworks, to connect with the existing Knockshinnoch siding and thence to the main Glasgow-Carlisle line, all in the parish of New Cumnock in the County of East Ayrshire.
