The A87 Trunk Road (Uig, Skye) (30mph and 40mph Speed Limit) Order 200

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they propose to make the above Order, the effect of which will be to reduce the existing 40mph speed limit by imposing a 30mph speed limit at the west end of the village of Uig, Skye on the A87 Trunk Road. The proposed 30mph speed limit will extend from a point 115 metres or thereby north of the northeast corner of the Ferry Terminal Building, southwards to the end of the trunk road at Uig Pier, a distance of 225 metres or thereby. The length of road affected is shown coloured pink on the plan referred to below.

The proposed Order will also re-enact the existing 30mph and 40mph speed limits on that length of the A87 Trunk Road at Uig, Skye from the southern boundary fence of the property known as Greenbank, northwards and then westwards and then southwestwards for a distance of 2,575 metres or thereby. This length of road is shown coloured yellow on the plan referred to below. The existing speed limits were imposed under the Highland Regional Council (Uig, Skye) (30mph and 40mph Speed Limits) Order 1993.

Full details of the proposal am contained in the Order which, together with a plan (number UM/NNW/D/O/2/5) showing the lengths of road involved, a copy of the existing Order to be varied and a statement of the Scottish Ministers’ reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be examined free of charge during normal office hours from 5th September 2002 to 31st October 2002 at the Scottish Executive Development Department, Road Network Management and Maintenance Division, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh; The Post Office, Uig, Isle of Skye; and Calmac Ferry Terminal Office, The Pier, Uig, Isle of Skye.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send details of the grounds for objection in writing to the Scottish Executive Development Department, Road Network Management and Maintenance Division, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh, EH6 6QQ quoting reference UM/NNW/D/O/2/5 by 3rd October 2002.
