LANDING OF CARCASES AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS Order (Northern ireland) 1985 (AS AMENDED)
GENERAL IMPORT LICENCE
DARD/GEN/10/07
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in accordance with the terms of the above legislation, hereby authorises the importation into Northern Ireland of:
Laboratory Test Kits ready for use from Great Britain and Member States
subject to the following conditions:
| 1. | All material must be packed in sealed, impervious containers of a type suitable for the contents and must be packed in compliance with relevant transport regulations. All potentially contaminated packaging or containers must be suitably disinfected before transport. |
| 2. | The packaging must be clearly labelled and show:– |
| (a) | the premises of origin |
| (b) | the destination of the consignment |
| (c) | the contents of the package |
| (d) | the product is intended for use as a laboratory kit |
| 3. | The product must not contain any living or viable organism. |
| 4. | Any documentation which accompanied the consignment must be retained for at least 1 year. |
| 5. | All packaging or containers must be rendered safe before disposal using a thermal process, such as autoclaving, that has been validated to STAATT Level IV. |
| 6. | Any consignment imported under this licence shall be made available if so required for inspection by an officer of the Department. |
| 8. | This licence is valid until further notice, unless revoked by the Department. |

NOTES
| 1. | Nothing in this licence gives exemption from any requirement, prohibition or restriction imposed by the Imported Food Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1991, the Medicines Act 1968 and 1971 or by any legislation superseding or amending the same. |
| 2. | Any breach of any condition attached to this licence will constitute an offence against the Diseases of Animals (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 (as amended). |
| 3. | This licence applies to test kits that comprise, or contain, biological products which are products derived from living organisms, manufactured and distributed in accordance with the requirements of appropriate national authorities and laboratories and are used for prevention, treatment, or diagnosis of disease in humans or animals, or for development, experimental or investigational purposes. |
