THE MOTOR VEHICLES (CONSTRUCTION AND USE) (AMENDMENT No. 2) REGULATIONS

The Department of the Environment has made a Statutory Rule entitled The Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 (S.R. 2007 No. 238).

These Regulations which come into operation on 5th July 2007, amend regulation 44 (audible warning instruments) of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 (S.R. 1999 No. 454) so as to permit the fitting of a bell, gong, siren or two-tone horn to a motor vehicle–

(a) under the lawful control of the Commissioners fro Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs and used for the purposes of the investigation of serious crime: or
(b) owned or operated by the Secretary of State for Defence and used for the purpose of activity which either prevents or decreases exposure to radiation arising from a radiation acident or emergency, or is connected with an event which could lead to such an acident or emergency.
