A Proclamation by the Secretary of State

19 MARCH 2007 – BANK HOLIDAY

The Rt. Hon. Peter Hain MP, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, in pursuance of the powers conferred on him by the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971, has signed an Order appointing Monday, 19th March 2007, as a Bank Holiday in Northern Ireland.

The Proclamation of a Bank Holiday directly affects only the banks and other financial institutions. The granting of a holiday on 19th March in other sectors of commerce and industry will be a matter for the individual firm to decide, taking into account its past practice in relation to Bank Holidays.
