Notice under paragraph 8 of Schedule 16 to the said Act

Notice is hereby given that Mercantile Building Society, Register No 708B, whose principal office is at Mercantile House, The Silverlink Business Park, Wallsend, Tyne & Wear NE28 9NY, desires to transfer its engagements to Leeds Building Society, Register No 320B, and that each society has applied to the Financial Services Authority to confirm the transfer.

Notice is hereby given that Leeds Building Society, Register No 320B, whose principal office is at 105 Albion Street, Leeds LS1 5AS, desires to accept a transfer of the engagements of Mercantile Building Society, Register No 708B, and that each society has applied to the Financial Services Authority to confirm the transfer.

Any interested party may make written representations to the FSA and/or give notice of intention to make oral representations to the FSA with respect to the application. Written representations and notices of intention to make oral representations should be received by the Financial Services Authority, 12th Floor, RFD, Dept B, 25 The North Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London, E14 5HS by 26 May 2006. If notice is given of oral representations these will be heard by the FSA on 16 June 2006, at a time and place to be determined by the FSA.
