West Tyrone Area Plan 2019 - Issues Paper

Public and Community Consultation

The Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991

The West Tyrone Area Plan 2019 is a development plan being prepared under the provisions of Part III of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991 by Planning Service, an Agency within the Department of the Environment. The Department will publish the Issues Paper for the West Tyrone Area Plan 2019 on 18th October 2005. This Issues Paper forms the basis for an extensive public and community consultation exercise and is intended to stimulate debate on the important planning issues and needs of the two District Council areas of Omagh and Strabane. The outcome of this consultation will help to shape the preparation of

the Draft Plan for West Tyrone.

A public information session will be held on 18th October 2005 at the Mellon Country Hotel, Beltany Road, Omagh between 4.00pm and 7.00pm, to coincide with the publication of the Issues Paper. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

In order to promote an inclusive consultation process, a number of public meetings and informal drop-in sessions have also been organised, details of which are set out below.

Copies of the Issues Paper will be available at all of the meetings and may also be obtained free of charge from the Omagh Divisional Planning Office and the offices of Omagh and Strabane District Councils.

The document will also be available on the Planning Service website www.planningni.gov.uk and will be made available on request in large text print, Braille or audio-cassette.

The public meetings and drop-in sessions are open to everyone and all venues are accessible. If anyone wishing to attend any of the meetings/sessions has any particular requirements, they should make prior contact with Community Technical Aid (CTA).

CTA is an independent community planning organisation that has been appointed to organise and facilitate these meetings. They can be contacted on (028) 9064 2227, or by e-mail:
