European Pharmacopoeia

The Health Ministers, that is to say the Secretary of State concerned with health in England and the Department1 of Health, Social Services and Public Safety, acting jointly, hereby declare under section 65(7) of the Medicines Act 1968 that on and after 1st July 2005 the monographs contained in Supplement 5.2 to the Fifth Edition of the European Pharmacopoeia, published under the direction of the Council of Europe (Partial Agreement) in accordance with the Convention on the Elaboration of a European Pharmacopoeia, are to have effect for the purposes of section 65 of the said Act.

Copies of the said Supplement to the Fifth Edition of the European Pharmacopoeia have been published by the Council of Europe, 67029 Strasbourg Cedex, France.

1The powers vested in the Minister in charge of the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety by virtue of section 95(5) of and paragraph 10 of Schedule 12 to the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (c.47) may now be exercised by that Department by virtue of section 1(8) of and paragraph 4(1)(b) of the Schedule to the Northern Ireland Act 2000 (c.1).
