Department of The Environment

The Department of the Environment has made a Statutory Rule entitled Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 (SR 2002 No. 256).

These regulations, which come into operation on 1st September 2002, make mandatory the fitting of seat belts and anchorages, which meet certain standards, to all new heavy goods vehicles and all new non-urban buses.

These Regulations revoke and replace the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 (SR 2002 No. 197) which contained a number of drafting errors.
