The Secretary of State gives notice of an Order made under Section 247 of the above Act entitled "The Stopping up of Highways (North East) (No.1) Order 2026" authorising the stopping up of the stopping up of a length of Wallis Street and the whole of Nelson Street at South Shields, in the Metropolitan Borough of South Tyneside.. This is to enable development as permitted by South Tyneside Council, under reference ST/0534/23/FUL.

Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, from the Secretary of State, National Transport Casework Team, PO Box 1393, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE99 5FQ or nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk (quoting NATTRAN/NE/S247/6009). They may also be inspected during normal opening hours at South Tyneside Council, Town Hall and Civic Offices, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 2RL.

Any person who wishes to challenge the validity of the decision to make the Order may apply to the High Court within 6 weeks from 28 January 2026.
