SECTION 116 AND SCHEDULE 12 OF THE HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO APPLY TO STOP UP HIGHWAY OFF THE A3220 AT WHITE CITY, LONDON
NOTICE is given that TRANSPORT FOR LONDON as the Highway Authority for the London Transport Network within the LONDON BOROUGH OF HAMMERSMITH AND FULHAM intends to apply to WESTMINSTER MAGISTRATES COURT sitting at 181 Marylebone Road, London NW1 5BR on 12 January 2026 at 10:00am for an Order under section 116 of the Highways Act 1980 authorising the stopping up of a section of highway maintainable at the public expense, being a length of unnamed and unclassified road from the bridge expansion joint on the west side of the A3220 West Cross Junction Bridge in a westerly direction to the point at which the highway connects into the private estate roads owned and maintained by the operators of the Westfield Shopping Centre at White City, London. The section of road to be stopped up comprises the footways and carriageways to the west of the bridge expansion joint west of the A3220, being a length of approximately 104 metres and its entire width. The section of highway to be stopped up is shown hatched red on the plan with reference TFL_WC_A_SK11 (“Plan”) accompanying the draft Order, both of which can be inspected at the offices of Transport for London or the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham at the below addresses and the Order is being requested on the ground that the highway is unnecessary. The effect of the Order will be to extinguish all public rights of way over the said land.
A copy of the draft Order and Plan may be inspected free of charge at Transport for London’s offices at 1st Floor, Palestra, 197 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NJ or the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham’s offices at 145 King St, London, W6 9XY by appointment between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm Monday to Fridays (excluding bank holidays and public holidays) from 5 December 2025 to 6 January 2026. Any person to whom this Notice has been given or who uses the highway specified or who would be aggrieved by the making of the Order may appear before the Magistrates’ Court to raise an objection or make a representation on the application.
