PENSION AND ASSURANCE SCHEME FOR LAY EMPLOYEES OF THE METHODIST CHURCH (THE “SCHEME”)

NOTICE UNDER SECTION 27 OF THE TRUSTEE ACT 1925

This notice is relevant to you if you are an employee or former employee of any of the following:

i. the Connexional Council (formerly the Methodist Council) of the Methodist Church in Great Britain,

ii. Methodist Ministers’ Housing Society,

iii. Cliff College, iv. The Central Finance Board of the Methodist Church,

v. The Trustees for Methodist Church Purposes,

vi. Wesley House, Cambridge,

vii. Central Hall Westminster Limited,

viii. Guy Chester Centre,

ix. Wesley College, Cambridge,

x. All We Can,

or if you are a widow, widower, civil partner, child, dependant, or other beneficiary of anyone previously employed by one or more of the employers above and you believe that you are entitled to benefits from the Scheme.

Please note that this notice only concerns the Scheme named above, namely the Pension and Assurance Scheme for Lay Employees of the Methodist Church (PASLEMC). There is another pension scheme related to the above employers (the Methodist Ministers’ Pension Scheme), and other schemes made available by some of the employers, but none of those are the subject of this notice

The Trustee has helped to secure members’ benefits in the Scheme by purchasing an insurance policy with Aviva, and the Trustee intends to distribute assets by transferring the policy into members’ names so Aviva will then become liable for members’ benefits. The Connexional Council and the Trustee is then intending to wind up the Scheme. We, the Trustee of the Scheme, must now establish the entitlements of any actual or potential beneficiaries so that we can arrange for the Scheme’s wind-up to be completed.

We have already taken steps to contact all of our known members and beneficiaries and we believe that we have the names of everyone who has a right to benefits. However, if you have not yet been contacted and you believe you are entitled to benefits from the Scheme, please write as soon as possible to:

FAO: Methodist Lay Employees’ Pension Trust Ltd

c/o The Pensions Office

25 Tavistock Place London WC1H 9SF

By email: PASLEMCqueries@methodistchurch.org.uk

Any correspondence should include your full name, address, date of birth, National Insurance number and details of your membership (or if you are a widow, widower, civil partner, child, dependant or other beneficiary of a deceased member, the membership or employment details of the deceased member).

All claims must be received on or before Friday 28 November 2025.

After the expiry of this notice on Friday 28 November 2025, the Trustee will proceed to wind up the Scheme and distribute any remaining assets and shall not be liable to any person in respect of any claim, interest or entitlement he or she may have in relation to the Scheme but of which the Trustee has not been notified.
