THE LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK (CHARGED-FOR PARKING PLACES) (THURLOW STREET IMPROVEMENTS) ORDER 202*

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK (WAITING RESTRICTIONS) (THURLOW STREET IMPROVEMENTS) ORDER 202*

1. Southwark Council hereby GIVES NOTICE that it proposes to make the above Orders under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

2. The effects of the Orders, the purpose of which is to accommodate the relocation of an existing zebra pedestrian crossing, would be in THURLOW STREET on both sides in the part of Thurlow Street outside Wendover:-

(a) within existing Controlled Parking Zone (‘CPZ’) 'M2' reduce in length existing ‘shared-use’ parking (permit-holders’ only and ‘Pay by Phone’) parking on both sides (i) north-east side remove 7.5 metres (37.5 metres remain), and (ii) south-west side remove a total of 31.5 metres (a total of 47.5 metres remain across the two existing parking bays affected on this side); and

(b) add new ‘at any time’ waiting restrictions (double yellow lines ‘DYLs’) (i) to replace the relocated ‘zebra’ pedestrian crossing (at its original location o/s Nos. 1 to 34 Harry Cole Court) north-east side 62.5 metres and south-west side 45.5 metres, and (ii) to replace some of the reduced parking at the above-mentioned on the south-west side (a total of 28.5 metres new ‘DYLs’); and

(c) remove existing ‘DYLs’ to accommodate the new location of the ‘zebra’ pedestrian crossing (o/s Wendover) north-east side 13 metres and south-west side 4.5 metres.

NOTES: (1) ‘shared-use’ refers to parking places in which holders of a valid permit for the within the Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) listed or ‘pay’ (‘Pay by Phone’ ticket holders) are permitted to park within the permitted hours. (2) ‘DYLs’ refer to 'at any time' waiting restrictions (operating at all times during every day of the week). (3) All measurements are in metres ‘m’ and are approximate. (4) Parking charges are listed on www.southwark.gov.uk/parking

3. Southwark Council hereby GIVES FURTHER NOTICE that under section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, approval for the provision of a new ‘zebra’ pedestrian crossing (replacing an existing crossing to be removed o/s Nos. 1 to 34 Harry Cole Court) in THURLOW STREET the centre of which would be located at a point 59 metres north-west of the extended south-eastern kerb-line of Markham Street. ‘Zig-zag’ markings, on which vehicles would be prohibited from stopping at all times, would be laid on the carriageway for a maximum distance of up to approximately 9.5m north-west of the crossing and south-east of the crossing.

6.
