NOTICE IN ADVANCE OF REQUESTING LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL TO EXERCISE POWERS IN RELATION TO LAND SITUATED AT CATON ROAD, LANCASTER FOLLOWING THE CARRYING OUT OF PRIVATE STREET WORKS PURSUANT TO SECTION 228 OF THE HIGHWAY ACT 1980.

Street Name: Caton Road, Lancaster

Description of development: 388 units of purpose-built student accommodation

Location: The Land coloured green on the Plan being land at the northwest side of Caton Road near the junction with Bulk Road

Description of Private Street Works on the Land: The installation of a layby in the area coloured green on the Plan to be adopted by Lancashire County Council

PPG Lancaster Limited hereby give notice that it intends to carry out private street works on the land situated at the northwest of Caton Road, Lancaster, near the junction with Bulk Road shown tinted green (“the Land”) on the plan referenced “S278 Works Land Plan 5013357–RDG–XX–XX–DR-C-1121-P06 the “Plan”).

On completion of the private street works referred to it is PPG Lancaster Limited's intention to request that Lancashire County Council (the "Highway Authority") exercise its discretionary statutory powers under Section 228 of the Highways Act 1980  and to declare the private street to be a highway which is a highway maintainable at the public expense, by way of the Highways Authority's Notice being displayed on the Land. The Highway Authority has not yet made any decision relating to this.

Any person who has concerns or who believes he/she is the owner of or has any legal interest in the Land or has any information on the ownership of the Land should contact Knights Professional Services Limited at realestatemcr@knightsplc.com or on  0161 833 1212 (Reference AGU/PPG21/8) no later than one calendar month from the date of publication of this Notice. Please note that any information given will be passed to the Highway Authority and will not be kept confidential.
