Notices under the Trustee Act 1925
THE MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT PENSION SCHEME (THE SCHEME) – WIND UP OF THE SCHEME
The Trustees of the Scheme (PTs) will shortly be winding up the Scheme. This notice of winding up is given pursuant to Section 27 of the Trustee Act 1925. The PTs are intending to distribute the assets of the Scheme before completing wind up, and want to trace anybody who believes they may have a right to benefits from the Scheme of which the PTs aren’t aware.
Does this apply to me?
This may apply to you if:
(a) You’ve not received any correspondence by post from the PTs regarding the buyout of your benefits with Aviva Life & Pensions UK Limited and/or the intended winding up of the Scheme; and
either:
(b) you were an employee of Macmillan Cancer Support or the National Association of Laryngectomee Clubs prior to May 2005; or
(c) the person in (b) above has died, and you’re either (i) their spouse/civil partner or (ii) a dependant of theirs; or
(d) you’re a person (or the spouse/civil partner or dependant of that person) who was previously a member of the Scheme but who transferred their benefits out of the Scheme; or
(e) you’re any other person,
who is (or thinks they might be) entitled to benefits under the Scheme.
What do I need to do?
If you believe you’re entitled to benefits of which the PTs aren’t aware, please write to The PTs of the Macmillan Cancer Support Pension Scheme, c/o First Actuarial LLP, Network House, Basing View, Basingstoke, Hampshire RG21 4HG or email Basingstoke.admin@firstactuarial.co.uk FAO: James Hancock or Ben Law
Your letter must be received by the PTs before 9 July 2025 clearly quoting the Scheme’s name and providing full details of your claim (including your full name, address, date of birth, National Insurance number, dates of employment (if applicable) and any benefits to which you think you’re entitled). The PTs will then consider your claim and respond to you. After 9 July 2025, the PTs will distribute the Scheme’s assets by securing benefits for anyone they are aware of with a valid claim or entitlement under the Scheme, before completing the Scheme wind up. If the PTs don’t receive details of your claim in writing before 9 July 2025, the PTs won’t be liable for any claim you, or anyone in respect of you, make subsequently.
