THE ISLINGTON (FREE PARKING PLACES, LOADING PLACES AND WAITING, LOADING AND STOPPING RESTRICTIONS) (AMENDMENT NO. 4) ORDER 2025
1) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Islington, on 20 February 2025, has made the above-mentioned Orders under Sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, and of all other powers thereunto enabling.
2) The general effect of the Orders, which will come into effect on 17 March 2025, would be to:
a) on Carnoustie Drive:
i) on both sides, north of its junction with Freeling Street, shorten the two existing resident permit and shared-use parking bays by 5.5 metres on their southern ends and replace with ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions;
ii) on the east side, north of its junction with Kember Street, shorten the existing shared use parking bay by 5.5 metres on its southern end and replace with a ‘no waiting at any time’ restriction;
iii) move the existing ‘no entry’ restriction for northbound traffic, with an exception for pedal cycles, from its position north of its junction with Freeling Street to south of that junction;
iv) on both sides, in line with its junction with Freeling Street, remove 10.4 metres of existing ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions to allow for a new unmarked crossing;
b) on Freeling Street:
i) between its junctions with Carnoustie Drive and Caledonian Road, introduce a ‘no vehicles’ restriction and remove the existing ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions to prepare the road to be pedestrianized; and
ii) the southern side, west of its junction with Pembroke Street, adjust the existing ‘no waiting at any time’ restriction to the new kerb buildout.
3) A copy of the made Orders and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection. 4) Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order, or of any provisions contained therein on the grounds that it or they are not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirement thereof or any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may make application for the purpose to the High Court within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made.
