THE GLA ROAD (LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK) (BUS PRIORITY) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2009 A201 GLA ROAD (NEW KENT ROAD) VARIATION ORDER 2024

GLA ROAD AND GLA SIDE ROADS (SOUTHWARK) RED ROUTE CONSOLIDATION TRAFFIC ORDER 2007 A201 GLA ROAD (NEW KENT ROAD) VARIATION ORDER 2024

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that on 7th May 2024 it made the above named Orders, under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Orders will come into force on 13th May 2024.

2. The general nature and effect of the Order will be to:

a) extend the existing eastbound bus lane on the A201 New Kent Road between No.221 New Kent Road and Rodney Place by 352 metres at its western end, operating ‘At Any Time’, allowing Buses, Dial-a-Ride Buses, Pedal Cycles, Taxis and Solo Motorcycles;

b) replace existing single red lines ‘No Stopping Mon-Sat 7am-7pm’ on south side of New Kent Road between its junction with Elephant Road and No.154 Baytree Mews, New Kent Road with double red lines. (No Stopping At Any Time);

c) replace existing single red lines ‘No Stopping Mon-Sat 7am-7pm’ on north side of New Kent Road between its junction with Meadow Row and outside No.183 New Kent Road with double red lines. (No stopping at any Time)’;

d) relocate the taxi bay adjacent to Nos.121-123 West Combe Apartments, New Kent Road by 10 metres in easterly direction, operating No Stopping At Any Time except taxis at authorised times.

e) replace existing single red lines ‘No Stopping Mon-Sat 7am-7pm’ on Falmouth Road and Balfour Street with double red lines (No stopping at any Time).

3. The roads which would be affected by the Orders are the A201 GLA Road – New Kent Road and GLA Side Roads – Falmouth Road and Balfour Street.

4. A copy of the Order, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order and copies of any Order revoked, suspended or varied by the Order can be inspected by visiting our website at https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/tro and selecting the relevant borough and reference the Traffic Order relates to or by appointment during normal office hours at our office at the address below. Please note due to hybrid working access to post is restricted and requests for documents may be delayed.

5. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
