ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE GLA ROADS AND GLA SIDE ROADS (LONDON BOROUGHS OF WANDSWORTH AND LAMBETH) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2024
1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that on 15th March 2024 it made the above named Order, under section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order will come into force on 25th March 2024.
2. The general nature and effect of the Order would be to impose a speed limit of 20 MPH speed limit on the:
(1) A3220 Battersea Bridge Road/ Latchmere Road/ Cambridge Road/ Prince of Wales Drive, A3036 East Hill, A3 Woodwell Street/ Wandsworth High Street/ East Hill/ Huguenot Place/ Marcilly Road/ North Side Wandsworth Common/ Battersea Rise/ Clapham Common North Side and West Hill between Wandsworth High Street and Putney Heath Lane, A205 The Avenue/ Clapham Common West Side/ Upper Richmond Road/ Upper Richmond Road West and the A217 Armoury Way and all GLA Side Roads - Red Route returns of these roads in the London Borough of Wandsworth;
(2) A205 Clapham Common North Side between Cedars Road and Wix’s Lane and on the A205 The Avenue between the Borough boundary between Wandsworth and Lambeth and Clapham Common South Side and all GLA Side Roads - Red Route returns of these roads in the London Borough of Lambeth.
The Order will also consolidate existing 20 MPH schemes on A205 Upper Richmond Road between West Hill and Gwendolen Avenue, A3220 Elspeth Road/ Latchmere Road, A3220 Battersea Bridge, A217 Ram Street and A3205 York Road/ Battersea Park Road between Wandsworth Roundabout and Macduff Road.
3. The roads which would be affected by the Order are GLA Main Roads and all GLA Side Roads - Red Route returns of these roads in the London Boroughs of Wandsworth and Lambeth as listed in article 2 above.
4. The roads affected are currently subject to a permanent speed limit of 30 MPH.
5. A copy of the Order, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order and copies of any Order(s) revoked, suspended or varied by the Order can be inspected by appointment at our offices at the address below by emailing trafficordersection@tfl,gov.uk. Copies of the documents may be requested via email at trafficordersection@tfl,gov.uk, or by post at the following address quoting reference NP/REGULATION/STOT/BS/TRO/GLA/2024/0324:
• Transport for London, Streets Traffic Order Team (NP/REGULATION/STOT), Palestra, 197 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NJ.
6. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
