DOCKLESS E-BIKE TRIAL
THE LONDON BOROUGH OF HOUNSLOW (NO.1) EXPERIMENTAL ORDER 2023
1. The London Borough of Hounslow hereby gives notice that on 11 May 2023 it made the above Order under Section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The general effect of the Order, which comes into effect on Monday, 5 June 2023, will be to:
a) introduce e-bike parking bays in Avenue Road, Boston Gardens, Church Walk, Clayponds Avenue, Clifden Road, Commerce Road, Crowther Avenue, Epworth Road, Green Dragon Lane, High Street, Junction Road, Latewood Road, Manor Vale, Netley Road, Rowan Road, The Butts, Brentford; and Alwyn Avenue, Balfern Grove, Bolton Road, Brooks Lane, Brooks Road, Cambridge Road North, Chiswick Common Road, Chiswick Lane South, Clarence Road, Coombe Road, Corney Road, Cranbrook Road, Dukes Road, Earnest Gardens, Edensor Gardens, Gainsborough Road, Glebe Street, Gordon Road, Grantham Road, Grosvenor Road, Grove Park Gardens, Grove Park Terrace, Hartington Road, Harvard Road, Hazledene Road, Heathfield Gardens, Heathfield Terrace, Homefield Road, Kinnaird Avenue, Lawford Road, Marlborough Road, Netheravon Road, Park Road, Power Road, Prebend Gardens, Princes Avenue, Priory Avenue, Pumping Station Road, Reckitt Road, Riverview Road, Spencer Road, Stamford Brook Avenue, Staveley Gardens, Staveley Road, Stile Hall Gardens, Strand-on-the-Green, Sutton Court Road, Sutton Lane South, Thornton Avenue, Wavendon Road, Chiswick; and
b) amend existing parking bays and waiting restrictions (yellow lines) to accommodate the e-bike parking bays.
3. The trial will also see the introduction of footway parking areas for e-bikes in the following roads: Clayton Crescent, Ealing Road, Lionel Road North, Syon Lane, Twickenham Road, Brentford; and Chiswick High Road, Dolman Road and Popes Lane, Chiswick.
4. Documents giving further information of the Order can be viewed online at hounslow.gov.uk by typing in the term “traffic notices” in the search bar. Documents will be available for viewing until the end of eighteen months from the date on which this Notice is published.
5. The Order provides for the Assistant Director for Traffic, Transport and Parking, or any person authorised by them to modify or suspend the Order or any provision of it, if it appears to them or that person essential in the interests of the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic or for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by the Order runs.
6. If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
7. If the provisions of the Order continue in operation for a period of at least six months, the Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely by means of a permanent Order. Any person desiring to object to the making of an Order for the purpose of such indefinite continuation may, within six months of the experimental Order coming into operation, send a statement in writing of the objection and the grounds on which it is made to the Assistant Director for Traffic, Transport and Parking, Hounslow House, 7 Bath Road, Hounslow TW3 3EB or by email to trafficorders@hounslow.gov.uk quoting the reference TMO/E001/23.
