GREAT CASTLE STREET, GREAT MARLBOROUGH STREET, LANGHAM PLACE, MARGARET STREET, REGENT STREET AND REGENT STREET ST. JAMES’S
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Westminster City Council proposes to make the following Orders under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended:
• The City of Westminster (Bus Priority) (No. 1, 1999) (Amendment No. *) Traffic Order 202*;
• The City of Westminster (Loading Bays) (Amendment No. *) Order 202*;
• The City of Westminster (Prescribed Routes) (No. *) Traffic Order 202*;
• The City of Westminster (Taxi Rank) (Amendment No. *) Order 202*; and
• The City of Westminster (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Amendment No. *) Order 202*.
2. The general effect of the Orders would be, in connection with public realm improvements in Regent Street, to make permanent the traffic movement, kerbside waiting provisions and cycling amenities introduced as a temporary response to the pandemic in 2020, most notably to:
(a) formalise the removal of all bus lanes from Regent Street;
(b) formally allow vehicles to cross certain lengths of mandatory with-flow cycle lanes in Regent Street for the purposes of accessing kerbside loading bays or taxi ranks; and
(c) formalise various amendments to waiting and loading restrictions and kerb-side parking provisions as set out in the Schedule to this Notice.
3. Please note that, as part of the public realm improvements, it is proposed to make permanent the following measures that were also introduced as a temporary response to the pandemic in 2020:
(a) the current on-street locations and extents of the bus stop clearways in Regent Street; and
(b) the lengths of mandatory and advisory with-flow cycle lanes:
(i) on both sides of Langham Place, between Langham Street and Cavendish Place / Mortimer Street; and
(ii) at various locations on both sides of Regent Street, between Cavendish Place / Mortimer Street and Piccadilly Circus.
4. The proposed Orders and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection until six weeks have elapsed from the date on which either the Orders are made or the Council decides not to make the Orders at https://westminstertransportationservices.co.uk/regentstreet, in person by appointment only, at Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QP, between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays (except bank / public holidays). 6. All objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
