ACCESSION DAY PRAYERS

The King has been pleased by Royal Warrant under His Royal Sign Manual dated 17th September 2022 to alter prayers to be used annually on the anniversary of the date of Accession of The King, in form following:

WHEREAS by Royal Warrant dated the twenty-sixth day of July one thousand nine hundred and fifty-eight certain Forms of Prayer and Service were made for the sixth day of February annually to be printed and published and annexed to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and Liturgy of the Church of England to be used yearly in all Churches and Chapels within the Provinces of Canterbury and York:

AND that in the prayers for or referring to the Sovereign or other members of the Royal Family contained in any form of service authorised for use in the Church of England, the names may be altered, and any other necessary alterations made, from time to time as the circumstances require by Royal Warrant, and those prayers as so altered shall be used thereafter:

NOW Our Will and Pleasure is that the said forms of prayer and service be discontinued; and that the forms of prayer and service hereunto annexed be forthwith printed and published and annexed to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and Liturgy of the Church of England or other authorised forms of service including those set out in the Common Worship: Services and Prayers for the Church of England to be used yearly on the eighth day of September in all Churches and Chapels within the Provinces of Canterbury and York.
