THE HACKNEY (PRESCRIBED ROUTES AND 20 MPH SPEED LIMITS) (CONSOLIDATION) (AMENDMENT NO.46) ORDER 2022

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 21st March 2022 the Council of the London Borough of Hackney made the above-mentioned Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.

2. The general effect of the Orders will be as follows;

a) Broadway Market - From the junction with Westgate Street to the junction with Ada Street (including Benjamin Close, a small section of Dericote Street, a small section of Welshpool Street and a small section of Duncan Road).

i) Introduce a prohibition of driving “at any time” to all through traffic.

• Access will be permitted for any vehicle being used for Police, Fire Brigade or Ambulance purposes.

• LBH waste services vehicles.

• Pedal cycles

b) Broadway Market - between Ada Street and Westgate Street

ii) Introduce a restricted zone with no waiting or loading “at any time” except for signed loading bays. Loading/Unloading permitted 30 minutes maximum, no return within 1 hour.

iii) Introduce a pedestrian zone in operation Sat - Sun 6am - 8pm except for loading by permit holders from 6am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm. Pedal cycles must dismount during market operating hours Sat - Sun 6am – 8pm.

• Items included in this order supersede previous orders for this location.

• Access will be permitted for any vehicle being used for Police, Fire Brigade or Ambulance purposes.

• LBH waste services vehicles.

• Pedal cycles must dismount during market operating hours.

3. Copies of the Orders, which will come into force on 28th March 2022, other relevant Orders, and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders, can be inspected for a period of six weeks from the date on which the Orders are made by email request to streetscene.consultations@hackney.gov.uk. Alternatively such documents can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays, in the visitor’s reception area, London Borough of Hackney, Hackney Service Centre, 1 Hillman Street, London, E8 1DY by appointment only.

4. If any person wishes to question the validity of the Orders, or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument under the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks of the date on which the Orders are made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
