CONTRA-FLOW CYCLING AND ROAD CLOSURE APPLYING TO MOTOR VEHICLES

THE KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA (PRESCRIBED ROUTES) (NO. 1) TRAFFIC ORDER 2022

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea on 17th March 2022 made the above-mentioned Order under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

2. The general effect of the Order will be to continue indefinitely the provisions of The Kensington and Chelsea (Prescribed Routes) (No. 12) Experimental Traffic Order 2020, that is, to:

(a) provide a pedestrian and cycle zone in Bute Street; and

(b) exempt pedal cycles from the existing one-way system in Bute Street;

[Note: access would be retained for Blue Badge holders and emergency vehicles and for any vehicle requiring access for the purpose of loading or unloading to or from premises or a market stall in Bute Street]

3. A copy of the Order, which will come into force on 24th March 2022 and of all other relevant documents can be obtained via email for inspection by contacting trafficorders@rbkc.gov.uk quoting reference “Bute St perm” and can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive until the end of a period of six weeks from the date the Order was made at The Customer Service Centre, Kensington Town Hall, Hornton Street, London W8 7NX.

4. Anyone wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under that Act has not been complied with may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
