SCHOOL STREETS SCHEME - DUNCAN STREET PEDESTRIAN AND CYCLE ZONE

THE ISLINGTON (PRESCRIBED ROUTES) (NO. 3) TRAFFIC ORDER 2020

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Islington on 30 April 2020 made the above mentioned Order under Section 6 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, and of all other powers thereunto enabling.

2. The general effect of the Order will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Duncan Street which lies between the north western kerb line of Duncan Terrace and the south eastern kerb line of Islington High Street between the hours of 8.15 a.m. and 9.15 a.m. and between the hours of 3 p.m. and 3.45 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive.

3. The prohibition referred to in paragraph 2 above will not apply to: permit holders; any vehicle displaying a valid Disabled Persons badge (Blue Badge) with reasonable cause to enter the length of street specified in paragraph 1 above; anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; any person who causes any vehicle to proceed in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed pursuant to section 66 or section 67 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

4. The order will specify that any resident whose usual place of residence or any business whose usual place of business, is located within or only accessible from the length of street specified in paragraph 1 above may apply to the Council for the issue of a permit.

5. Copies of the Order, which will come into force on 8 May 2020, and of other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order are available for inspection during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive until the end of 6 weeks from the date on which the Orders were made at Public Realm, 1 Cottage Road, London N7 8TP. 6. Any person desiring to question the validity of either of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to either of the Orders may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
