The Department for Communities has made a Statutory Rule entitled “The Local Government Pension Scheme (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2019”, (S.R. 2019 No. 206), which comes into operation on 18th November 2019. This Rule amends the Local Government Pension Scheme (Northern Ireland) to comply with a Supreme Court judgment on entitlement to survivor benefits for cohabitees of members of the Scheme and introduces a number of minor policy changes and technical amendments.
