BANBURY CONSERVATION AREA
NOTICE is given under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, Section 69 that Cherwell District Council has determined on 15th September 2018 to amend the boundary of the existing Banbury Conservation Area as described in the Schedule to this notice.
For those parts of Banbury not previously included in the conservation area, the effect of conservation area designations is as follows:
1. Permission will now be required for the demolition of all unlisted buildings (other than excepted buildings) in the area.
2. Planning applications for development which would in the opinion of the Local Planning Authority affect the character or appearance of the conservation area must be given publicity and representations received as a result of the publicity must be taken into account in determining the application.
3. It becomes an offence subject to certain exceptions to cut down, top, lop, uproot, wilfully damage or destroy any tree in the area except with the consent of the local planning authority.
4. The Local Planning Authority is now under a duty to formulate and publish proposals for the preservation and enhancements of the area.
A map of the amended conservation area may be inspected free of charge during normal office hours at the offices of Cherwell District Council, Bodicote House, Bodicote, Banbury, Oxfordshire, OX15 4AA or on the Councils website at http://www.cherwell.gov.uk
SCHEDULE
The boundary of the existing Banbury Conservation Area has been altered in respect of the following: The boundary of Banbury conservation area has been extended to include additional areas of the town following existing boundaries. One area has been removed from within the conservation area boundary.
• The inclusion of the Northern suburb of Neithrop to the north of the town.
• The inclusion of part of Castle Street and part of Warwick Road.
• The inclusion of the land formerly part of the Calthorpe Estate at the centre of the conservation area.
• The inclusion of additional properties on Bloxham Road.
• The removal of Cherwell Court to the south east of the conservation area.
