The Department of Agriculture, Environment & Rural Affairs has made a Statutory Rule entitled The Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2017 S.R. 230, which comes into operation on 1st January 2018.

These Regulations amend the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 and set new business recycling targets for the following waste packaging materials, to operate from 2018 to 2020: Glass, Aluminium, Steel, Paper/Board, Plastic, Wood.
