The Department for Communities has made a Statutory Rule entitled the Welfare Supplementary Payment (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2017 (S.R. 2017 No. 28), which comes into operation on 6th February 2017.

This Rule amends the Welfare Supplementary Payments Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016, the Welfare Supplementary Payment (Loss of Disability Living Allowance) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016, the Welfare Supplementary Payment (Loss of Carer Payments) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016 and the Welfare Supplementary Payment (Loss of Disability-Related Premiums) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016. It makes provision for the recovery of welfare supplementary payments, and gives effect to miscellaneous amendments relating to

- timing of payments;

- effective dates of changes of circumstances including termination of payments;

- persons to whom payments may be made;

- entitlement conditions where couples form or separate;

- sanctions;

- information sharing;

- continuation of payments for conflict-related cases;

- priority of payments; and

- changes in the rate of any contributory benefit.
