JERMYN STREET PUBLIC REALM SCHEME

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Westminster City Council proposes to make the following Orders under sections 6, 45, 46, 49, 63 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended:

• The City of Westminster (Doctor Parking Places) (Amendment No. *) Order 201*;

• The City of Westminster (Free Parking Places) (Bicycles) (Amendment No. *) Order 201*;

• The City of Westminster (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) (Amendment No. *) Order 201*;

• The City of Westminster (Loading Bays) (Amendment No. *) Order 201*;

• The City of Westminster (Parking Places) (E Zone) (Amendment No. *) Order 201*;

• The City of Westminster (Taxi Rank) (Amendment No. *) Order 201*; and

• The City of Westminster (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Amendment No. *) Order 201*.

2. The general effect of the Orders would be, in connection with the introduction of public realm improvements in Jermyn Street, to introduce “at any time” waiting and loading restrictions between St. James’s Street and Regent Street, St. James’s, except in the designated areas detailed in the Schedule to this Notice.

3. The Orders would also revise the existing parking and waiting and loading restrictions in surrounding streets, as follows:

Bury Street

(a) extend the pay-by-phone parking place outside Nos. 21 to 23 by replacing the existing 1.5 metre length of single yellow line;

(b) extend the “at any time” waiting and loading restrictions at its junction with Jermyn Street approximately 7 metre south-eastward;

(c) introduce 2 cycle parking stands on the footway on the south-west side, adjacent to No. 72 Jermyn Street.

Duke of York Street

replace a residents’ parking space outside No. 6 with a doctor’s parking place (relocated from Jermyn Street).

Duke Street, St. James’s

introduce “at any time” loading restrictions on both sides, between Piccadilly and a point 12.5 metres south-east of Jermyn Street.

King Street, St. James’s

(a) introduce additional pay-by-phone parking bays:

• outside Nos. 21 & 22 (2 bays);

• outside Nos. 26 to 28 (1 bay);

• outside No. 33 (3 bays);

(b) extend the “at any time” waiting restrictions on the south-east side, at its junction with St. James’s Square, south-westward by 4 metres.

St. James’s Street

(a) extend the “at any time” waiting and loading restrictions outside No. 35 south-eastward by 4 metres; and

(b) introduce two additional cycle stands on the footway on the north-east side, adjacent to No. 162 Piccadilly.

4. The Council also intends, in accordance with the provisions of section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to shorten the zig-zag markings on the south-eastbound approach to the “zebra” pedestrian crossing outside Nos. 32 and 33 St. James’s Street by 4 metres.

5. The proposed Orders and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposals are available for inspection until six weeks have elapsed from the date on which either the Orders are made or the Council decides not to make the Orders between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, 10th Floor, Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QP.

7. All objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
