CARLTON VALE CYCLE ROUTE

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Westminster City Council proposes to make the following Orders under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended:

• The City of Westminster (Parking Places) (C Zone) (Amendment No. *) Order 201*; and

• The City of Westminster (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Amendment No. *) Order 201*.

2. The general effect of the Orders would be to:

(a) relocate the residents’ parking place outside Western Court so that it would lie 2 metres north of the southern footway of Carlton Vale. This measure would accommodate the introduction of a cycle track and mandatory with-flow cycle lane immediately adjacent to the footway between Fernhead Road and the eastern boundary of Western Court; and

(b) correct discrepancies to ensure that existing Orders correspond with on-street yellow line markings.

3. Westminster City Council also intends, in accordance with the provisions of section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to introduce pedestrian “zebra” crossings and parallel cycle crossing facilities:

(a) at the island site at the junction of Carlton Vale and Fernhead Road; and

(b) at the island site at the junction of Kilburn Lane and Carlton Vale.

4. Please note that the above measures form part of proposals to introduce a Walking and Cycling Improvement Scheme in the South Kilburn Regeneration Area, which lies within the London Borough of Brent. The Council of the London Borough of Brent is proposing to introduce pedestrian / cycle crossings and traffic calming measures in the lengths Carlton Vale and Kilburn Lane that lie within its boundary. Details of these proposals will be published separately.

5. The proposed Orders referred to in paragraph 1 and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection until six weeks have elapsed from the date on which either the Orders are made or the Council decides not to make the Orders between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, 10th Floor, Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QP.
