NOTICE OF DESIGNATION OF CONSERVATION AREA

LONDON BOROUGH OF HARROW PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS & CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990, SECTION 69

PINNER ROAD CONSERVATION AREA

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that as the local planning authority, the Council of the London Borough of Harrow (“the Council”) in pursuance of Section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 has designated the Pinner Road Conservation Area (“the Conservation Area”) described in the Schedule to this Notice as an area of special architectural or historic interest the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance.

The principal effects of this designation are as follows:

1. The Council is under a duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation or enhancement of the area.

2. In carrying out its functions under the Planning Acts, and in particular determining applications for planning permission and listed building consent, the Council and the Secretary of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area.

3. Consent must be obtained from the Council for the demolition of any building in the area.

4. Special publicity must be given to planning applications for development in the area.

5. Six weeks’ notice must be given to planning applications for development in the area.

Copies of this Notice and a map showing the entire designated Conservation Area as described in the Schedule may be inspected at the Main Reception, Civic Centre 1, Station Road, Harrow HA1 2UH between 9.30am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday for a period of 28 days from the date of this Notice.

Pinner Cemetery (including the Chapel, entrance gates and piers, entrance lodge and public conveniences)

660 Pinner Road, Pinner

Land on the north side of Pinner Road, Pinner

Pinner Fire Station, its rear tower and repair workshops

1-18 (inclusive) Fire Station/Brigade Cottages, Pinner Road, Pinner
