FRIERN ROAD AT PECKHAM RYE - EXPERIMENTAL CLOSURE TO MOTOR VEHICLES

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK (PRESCRIBED ROUTE) (FRIERN ROAD) (NO. 1) EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC ORDER 2011

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the council of the London Borough of Southwark (‘the council’) on 01 December 2011 made the above-mentioned order under Legislation section: sections 9 and Legislation section: 10 of the Legislation: Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
  • 2 The general effect of the order will be, commencing from 03 January 2012, to experimentally prohibit motor vehicles from entering into or proceeding in that length of FRIERN ROAD which lies between the south-western kerb-line of Peckham Rye and a point 3 metres south-west of that kerb-line. This prohibition will be physically enforced by the placing of bollards in the carriageway across the width of Friern Road.

  • 5 The council will in due course be considering whether the provisions of the order should be continued in force indefinitely by means of a permanent order made under Legislation section: section 6 of the Legislation: Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 . Any person may object to the making of the permanent order for the purpose of such indefinite continuation within a period of six months beginning with the day on which the experimental order comes into force or, if the order is subsequently varied by another order or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force. Any such objection must be in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made and be sent to either:- the Traffic orders officer, Public realm projects (parking design), Southwark council, Environment & leisure, P.O. Box 64529, London SE1P 5LX, or via e-mail to traffic.orders@southwark.gov.uk
  • 6 In the preparation of an objection and the statement of grounds of objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection or representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected.
