TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990

THE SECRETARY OF STATE hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an Order under Section 247 of the above Act to authorise the stopping up of an irregular shaped northern part width of the unnamed footpath which lies to the front of Nos. 1 to 10 Brenchley Close, 4 part widths of Stanhope Road, a length of Leaveland Close and the unnamed footpaths in an area bounded by, but not including, the footpath which lies to the front of Nos. 1 to 10 Brenchley Close to the south, Nos. 87 to 88 and No. 143 Leaveland Close to the east and Stanhope Road to the north and to the west at Stanhope, in the Borough of Ashford.

IF THE ORDER IS MADE, the stopping up will be authorised only in order to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission granted to Ashford Borough Council under reference /05/01629/AS (outline application) and to Gleeson Homes Southern under reference /07/00493/AS (reserved matters) by Ashford Borough Council on 2 May 2006 and 26 February 2008 respectively.

COPIES OF THE DRAFT ORDER AND RELEVANT PLAN MAY BE INSPECTED at all reasonable hours during 28 days commencing on 12 November 2009 at Meet and Greet, Ashford Borough Council, Civic Centre, Tannery Lane, Ashford, Kent TN23 1PL and may be obtained free of charge from the Secretary of State at the offices of the Department for Transport (quoting reference NATTRAN/SE/S247/89) at the address stated below.

ANY PERSON MAY OBJECT to the making of the proposed order within the period of 28 days commencing on 12 November 2009 by notice to the Secretary of State, quoting the above reference, addressed to the National Transport Casework Team, Government Office for the North East, Citygate, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4WH.

In preparing an objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of it may be imparted to other persons who may be affected by it and that those persons may wish to communicate with the objector about it.

The Schedule

Outline planning permission (/05/01629/AS) is granted for demolition and redevelopment of ten sites for new housing, shops, community facilities, library and public house at various sites including blocks of flats, Stanhope Estate, Stanhope Road, Stanhope, Ashford; and

Planning permission (reserved matters) (/07/00493/AS) is granted for demolition of two five storey blocks of flats and redevelopment of the site to provide 54 residential houses and flats, none of which are higher than three storeys. Associated external works including parking, landscaping, roads and footpaths etc. at Site 7 comprising of flats 89 to 142 Leaveland Close inclusive Stanhope Estate Development, Stanhope Road, Stanhope, Ashford, Kent.
