PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990 (“THE 1990 ACT”), SECTION 69

FRITHAM WITH EYEWORTH CONSERVATION AREA

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN under the provisions of the 1990 Act that New Forest National Park Authority (“the Authority”) has determined that the area described in the Schedule to this Notice is an area of special architectural or historic interest, and that it is desirable to preserve or enhance its character or appearance. Accordingly, on 29 January 2009, it extended the boundaries of Fritham Conservation Area.

The principal effects of the designation of this area as a conservation area are as follows:

  • 1 The Authority is under a duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation or enhancement of the area.
  • 2 The consent of the Authority must be obtained prior to the demolition of any building in the area.
  • 3 Additional publicity must be given to planning applications for development in the area.
  • 4 In carrying out any functions under the planning acts (and, in particular, in determining applications for planning permission and listed building consent), the Authority and the Secretary of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area.
  • 5 Six weeks notice must be given to the Authority before works are carried out to any tree situated within the area.

Schedule

Fritham

The boundaries are:

In a clockwise direction, from a point on the east side of the road between Bramshaw and Stoney Cross opposite the junction with the drive to Fritham Lodge, south along the east verge including the verge and its associated hedges, scrub and trees to a point opposite the junction of the road leading to Moor Farm and Moor Cottage. Southwest across the road from Bramshaw to Stoney Cross following the southern verge of the road to Moor Farm, southwest to the triangular green south of Moor Cottage and Old Post Office Farm. South along the east verge of the track across the frontage of Sandels and Janesmoor House then south and southwest along the southern edge of the track dividing the settlement of Fritham from the open Forest. Then west, southwest and west along the path which follows the boundary separating the settlement and its land from the open Forest to its junction with Dockens Water and then northwest from this point along the western edge of the track running across the frontage of Vale Cottage and Ivy Cottage to its junction with the track leading to Buddles Corner. North along the western boundary of the road west of Butlers Farm, Homefield and Fritham Free Church to a point west of White Cottage. Then northwest along the western boundary dividing the green in front of Valletta Cottage from the open Forest to its junction with the track leading southwest to the public car park, then northwest across the track, northeast and west following the western edge of the road to its junction with the track leading west onto the open Forest. West along the southern edge of the track to the edge of the green in front of Valletta Cottage, then northeast along the boundary between this green and the open Forest to include the riveted sheet iron historic post box to the former gun powder factory. Northeast across the road which leads to Eyeworth to its northern boundary, then southeast along the edge of the road to the green adjacent to The Royal Oak public house. Northeast along the western boundary of this green, then north and southeast following the boundary to its junction with the track to Howen Farm. Northeast along the western edge of the boundary of the track passing to the west of Howen Farm and continuing along the western boundary of the track to a point where it turns southeast into a farm building complex. From this point northeast along the north western boundary dividing the arable land from the open Forest, north, northeast and southeast, then northeast and southeast along the boundary of the arable land until it reaches a point east of Fritham Lodge. Then east, north, east, southeast and east following the northern edge of the green to the east of Fritham Lodge to a point where it joins the Bramshaw to Stoney Cross Road. East across this road, then south following the eastern boundary of the road to the point east of the junction of this road with the drive to Fritham Lodge.

Eyeworth

The boundaries are:

In a clockwise direction, from a point where the Fritham to Eyeworth Road enters the Eyeworth Inclosure, southwest along the southeast boundary of the arable land of the inclosure to a point where it joins the stream from Eyeworth Pond. Southwest along the southeast edge of the stream to a point where it turns north into the inclosure. Southwest and south along the boundary dividing the inclosure from the open Forest, then northwest and north following the boundary of the inclosure, then northeast, north, northeast and east following the boundary to its junction with the track running southeast/northwest to the east of Oak Tree Cottage. East across the track, then southeast along the eastern boundary of the track to a point where it joins the boundary of the green to the northeast of Powder Mill Farm. Northeast, east and south following the boundary of the green to the northeast of Powder Mill Farm to its junction with the track, southeast following the eastern boundary of the track to its junction with the boundary of Eyeworth Pond. Northeast along the boundary following the north western edge of the Pond to its most northerly point at Irons Well, then southeast to a point where it joins the Old Gun Powder Track to the Bramshaw Road. Cross this track, then southwest following the eastern boundary of the track to a point where it joins the public car park. South, east and south following the eastern boundary of the car park to a point where it joins the boundary between Eyeworth Inclosure and the open Forest. East, south and southwest following this boundary to the west of Howen Bushes, then south to a point where it joins the Fritham to Eyeworth Road. Cross the road then northwest following the western boundary of the road to a point where it enters Eyeworth Inclosure.
