HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM (A688 WHEATLEY HILL TO BOWBURN LINK) (CLASSIFIED ROAD) (SIDE ROADS) ORDER 2003

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he has confirmed, without modification, the above Order which was made by Durham County Council under sections 14 and 125 of the Highways Act 1980 and which, as confirmed, authorises the Council to:

(a) improve highways;
(b) stop up highways;
(c) construct new highways;
(d) stop up private means of access to premises; and
(e) provide new means of access to premises;

all on or in the vicinity of the route of the classified road known as the A688 Wheatley Hill to Bowburn Link which Durham County Council are proposing to construct and improve between the existing B6291, south of the A1(M) Bowburn Motorway Junction and the A181 at Byers Garth.
Copies of the above-mentioned Order and of the plans referred to therein have been deposited and may be inspected at all reasonable hours, free of charge, at the offices of the Director of Corporate and Legal Services, County Hall, Durham; the offices of the City of Durham Council, 4 Saddler Street, Durham; at Bowburn Library, Durham Road, Bowburn and at the offices of the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Authority Orders Section, Government Office for the North East, Wellbar House, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4TD.
Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or of any regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 13 May 2004, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein.
