Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Lambeth, in pursuance

Act 1990 (as amended), made the following designation of a new Conservation Area within

(v) The new Abbeville Road Conservation Area (CA No 30)-SW4—which includes 25-79

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Lambeth, in pursuance
of powers under section 70 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas)
Act 1990 (as amended), made the following alterations to the boundaries of a conservation
area within the London Borough of Lambeth on 30 October 2003:
(iv) An extension to the West Norwood Conservation Area (CA No 24)-SE24—which includes
543-551 Norwood Road (odd), 1 a and 1 b Robson Road, 2-8 Chestnut Road (even), 3-5 Chestnut Road, Goodwood Court (Chestnut
Road), 9-21 Norwood High Street (odd), 1-11 Dunbar Street (odd), 6-8 Dunbar Street
(even), Bethel Hall (Dunbar Street). The designation of the 1 and 2 Pilgrim Hill and
the land adjacent.
The objective of designation is to preserve or enhance the character or appearance
of areas of special architectural or historic interest, as distinct from individual
buildings, to control developments in such areas and to stimulate and encourage measures
to improve the environment. The primary effects of conservation area status are that
the demolition of certain buildings is brought within conservation area control and
consent must first be sought from the planning authority; that it becomes an offence
to cut down, lop or carry out any other works to certain trees within the area without
proper consent from the planning authority; and that planning applications for development
which in the opinion of the planning authority, would affect the character or appearance
of the conservation area, must be advertised. A plan showing the areas subject to
these designations is available for public inspection at the Town Planning Advice
Centre, 10 Acre Lane, Brixton, London SW2 5LL (opening hours 9.30 am to 4.30 pm).
