THE TOWER HAMLETS (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) (NO 1) TRAFFIC ORDER 2002

1. Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, on 4 November 2002, made the above-mentioned Order under sections 84(1)(a) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985 and the Road Traffic Act 1991. 2. The general effect of Order will be that no person shall drive a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour in any of the following roads or lengths of road: (i) Approach Road, Bonner Road, Bonner Street, Cyprus Place, Cyprus Street, Gawber Street, Globe Terrace, Hartley Street, Hunslett Street, Kirkwall Place, Lark Row, Moravian Street, Mowlem Street, Patriot Square, Parmiter Street, Peary Place, Peel Grove, Robinson Road, Royston Street, Russia Lane, Sewardstone Road, Stainsbury Street, St James’s Avenue, Type Street, Victoria Park Square, Vyner Street, Wadeson Street, Waterloo Gardens, Welwyn Street; (ii) Bishop’s Way, between a point 42 metres east of the eastern kerbline of Cambridge Heath Road and its junction with Sewardstone Road; (iii) Globe Road, between its junction with Old Ford Road and its junction with Roman Road; (iv) Old Ford Road, between a point 26 metres east of the eastern kerbline of Cambridge Heath Road and a point 40 metres west of the western kerbline of Grove Road. 3. A copy of the Order, which will come into operation on 18 November 2002, can be inspected, by prior appointment, at the offices of Customer Services, Traffic and Transportation Section, Southern Grove Lodge, Southern Grove, London E3 4PN, during normal office hours on Monday to Fridays inclusive, until the expiration of a period of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made. 4. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision provided therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
