NOTICE UNDER PARAGRAPH 8 OF SCHEDULE 16 TO THE SAID ACT

Notice is hereby given that Gainsborough Building Society, Register No 222B, whose principal office is at Marshall House, 9 Lord Street, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire DN21 2DD, desires to transfer its engagements to Yorkshire Building Society, Register No 66B, whose principal office is at Yorkshire House, Yorkshire Drive, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD5 8LJ, and that each society has applied to the Building Societies Commission to confirm the transfer. Notice is hereby given that Yorkshire Building Society, Register No 66B, whose principal office is at Yorkshire House, Yorkshire Drive, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD5 8LJ, desires to accept a transfer of the engagements of Gainsborough Building Society, Register No 222B, and that each society has applied to the Building Societies Commission to confirm the transfer. Any interested party may make written representations to the Commission and/or give notice of intention to make oral representations to the Commission with respect to the application. Written representations and notices of intention to make oral representations should be received by the Commission at c/o Financial Services Authority, 14th Floor (For the attention of Fergus Allan, Team 4), 25 The North Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London E14 5HS, on or before 10 December 2001. If notice is given of oral representations these will be heard by the Financial Services Authority (being the successor to the Commission with effect from 1 December 2001, pursuant to the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000) on 14 December 2001, at a time and place to be determined by the Financial Services Authority.
