NOTICE OF PROPOSAL TO GRANT AN EXTENSION TO A PUBLIC GAS TRANSPORTERS LICENCE

1. The Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (“the Authority”), pursuant to section 7(5) of the Gas Act 1986, hereby gives notice that it proposes to grant a licence under that section to British Gas Connections, whose registered office is situated at Charter Court, 50 Winsor Road, Slough, Berkshire SL1 2HA. The extension, if awarded, will authorise the above-named to convey gas through pipes to any premises in the areas briefly described below and shown on maps previously submitted to the Authority. Areas : Beechwood Place, Bloomfield, Narbeth, Dyfed Filching Road/Gorse Close, Eastbourne, East Sussex Southside, Newmoor Close, Morpeth, Northumberland Dunston Dev. Phase 12A (stage 1), Oulton, Lowestoft, Norfolk Hardacre Lane, Whittle-le-Woods, Chorley, Lancashire 21 High Street, Edenbridge, Kent Cliff Rock Road, Rednal, Birmingham, West Midlands Prior Pursgrove Clge Dev, South Park Avenue, Normanby, Cleveland Clifton Road, Rugby, Warwickshire Dudbridge Road, Stroud, Gloucestershire New River Green Estate, Off Essex Road, Islington, London Derby Road, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire L/P 71, Cumberland Road, Chafford Hundred, Grays, Essex Brockhill Drive, Area 13/13A Brockhill, Redditch, Worcestershire Low Farm, Main Street, North Frodingham, Driffield, Yorkshire Former NHS Stores, Hill End Lane, St Albans, Hertfordshire Devington Park, Blocks R2 & R3, Exminster, Exeter, Devon Arden Street, Gillingham, Kent Copies of these maps are available for inspection at the Office of Gas Supply at the address shown below. 2. The Authority is of the opinion that the above-named applicant intends to carry on the activities which may be authorised by its licence under section 7 of the Act in the areas named, and that the granting of the licence will be calculated: (a) to secure that reasonable demands for gas in Great Britain are met, and (b) to secure effective competition in the supply of gas conveyed through pipes. 3. Any representations or objections with respect to the proposed extensions may be made in writing and delivered to J Ricketts, Office of Gas and Electricity Markets, Licensing Section, 2nd Floor, 9 Millbank, London SW1P 3GE, no later than 19 September 2001.
