STOPPING-UP HIGHWAYS

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an Order, under section 247 of the above Act, to authorise the stopping-up of a length of highway at Ferry Road (A126), Tilbury, Essex. If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission granted to Port of Tilbury London Ltd by Thurrock Council on 16th November 2000, under Ref. 00/00296/OUT. The proposed Order will require a new length of highway maintainable at the public expense for which Thurrock Council will be the local highway authority. The proposed Order will provide that the stopping-up must not be carried out until Port of Tilbury London Ltd has provided new all-purpose highway and that the new all-purpose highway shall be a highway maintainable at the public expense for which Thurrock Council will be the local highway authority. Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan may be inspected, at all reasonable hours during 28 days commencing on 12th January 2001, at the offices of Thurrock Council, Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, Essex and may be obtained, free of charge, from the Government Office for the East of England (Planning and Transport) (quoting Ref. GT/Y1565/35/1/18) at the address stated below. Any person may object to the making of the proposed Order, within the period of 28 days commencing on 12th January 2001, by notice to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, quoting the above reference, at the Government Office for the East of England (Planning and Transport), Heron House, 49-53 Goldington Road, Bedford MK40 3LL.
