THE HARINGEY (BUS LANE) EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC ORDER 1999
Notice is hereby given that, the Council of the London Borough of Haringey on 9th December 1999, made the Haringey (Bus Lane) Experimental Traffic Order 1999 under section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The general effect of the Order will be to establish a new south-eastbound flow bus lane at Great North Road and to impose new operational times of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Saturday, on the existing eastbound with flow bus lane. A copy of the Order which will come into operation on 6th January 2000, and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order can be inspected until the end of 6 months from the date on which the Order was made between 9 a.m. and 4.45 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at: (i) The Legal Service, Alexandra House, 10 Station Road, Wood Green, London N22 4TR; (ii) Hornsey Town Hall, The Broadway, Crouch End, Hornsey, London N.8. Further information may be obtained by telephoning the Legal Service, telephone 020-8489 3849, and copies of the Order may be obtained from the Legal Service, Alexandra House, 10 Station Road, London N22 4TR. The Order provides that in pursuance of section 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Borough Engineer and Surveyor of the London Borough of Haringey, or some person authorised in that behalf by him, may, if it appears to him or that person, essential in the interests of the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic or for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by the Order runs, modify or suspend the Order or any provision thereof. If the provisions of the Order continue in operation for a period of not less than 6 months, the Haringey Borough Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be reproduced and continued in force indefinitely by means of an Order under section 6 of the said Act of 1984. Persons desiring to object to the making of the Order under section 6 of the said Act of 1984 for the purpose of such reproduction and continuation in force may, within the afore-mentioned period of 6 months (i.e. by) send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds of that objection to the Legal Service, Alexandra House, 10 Station Road, London N22 4TR. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or if any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
