THE CROYDON (OFF STREET PARKING PLACES) (NO. 1) TRAFFIC ORDER 1999

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Croydon on 24th May 1999, made the above-mentioned Order under sections 32, 35, 124 of, and Parts I to IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985. The general effect of the Order will be: (a) to amend the Croydon (Off Street Parking Places) (No. 2) Traffic Order 1991, to designate the area of land located on the north-west side of the junction of Sheldon Street and Wandle Road, as a short term “pay and display” operated Car Park (known as Wandle Road Surface Car Park); (b) to provide that the regulations contained within that Order governing the use of Off Street Car Parks now apply to the Wandle Road Surface Car Park; (c) to specify that passenger vehicle (with 8 seats of less) may be left in the parking places provided; (d) to provide that the various charges for leaving a vehicles in this Car Park may vary: (i) from £1 fixed fee on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 a.m.; (ii) from 60p for a period up to 1 hour to £3 (maximum) for 24 hours between 7 a.m. on Saturdays and 7 a.m. on Mondays inclusive; (e) to allow Orange Badge holders and motor cycles to use the parking places without charge; (f) to provide that the penalty charge for contravening the Off Street Car Parking regulations will be £40, reduced to £20 on early settlement of the fine. Note:  Between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, Council staff permit holders only have sole use of the Surface Car Park. A copy of the Order which will come into operation on 1st June 1999, can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive until the end of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, at the Enquiry Counter, “One Stop” Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey. Copies of the Order may be obtained at a charge from the Traffic and Highways Division of the Public Services and Works Department, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
