NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Take notice that J. Sainsbury Plc, of Stamford House, Stamford Street, London SE1 9LL, is applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from Upper Chalk from 2 boreholes at National Grid Reference TQ 401 787 at Millenium Village, Greenwich. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 111.6 cubic metres per hour, 2,678 cubic metres per day, 977,616 cubic metres per year. The water will be used for cooling purposes, topping up lakes and grey water purposes. A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Sainsbury’s Supermarket Ltd., c/o RGCM Ltd., Gate 25, Horne Lane Link, Greenwich Peninsular, between 18th February 1999 and 18th March 1999. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Water Resources Officer—SE Area, Swift House, Frimley Business Park, Frimley, Camberley, Surrey GU16 5SQ, before the end of the said period, quoting the name of the applicant.
