Notice of application for consent in pursuance of section 1

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10, section 1 of the Environment Act 1995, that applications have been made to the Environment Agency by North West Water Limited to discharge sewage effluent under storm conditions from the combined sewer overflows (CSOs) situated at the following locations:   Reedyford Road CSO discharging to a tributary of Walverden Water at National Grid Reference SD 8634 3856;   Netherfield Road CSO discharging to Walverden Water at National Grid Reference SD 8619 3775;   Hey Street CSO discharging to Hendon Brook at National Grid Reference SD 8646 3824;   Fleet Street CSO discharging to Walverden Water at National Grid Reference SD 8600 3855;   Chapel House Road/Brook Street CSO discharging to Walverden Water at National Grid Reference SD 8646 3755;   Walverden Park CSO discharging to Walverden Water at National Grid Reference 8648 3753;   Lomeshaye Way CSO discharging to Pendle Water at National Grid Reference 8518 3790.   These applications are in connection with the proposed Nelson sewerage scheme which will incorporate the abandonment of eight CSOs and improvement to the remaining CSO structures listed above. The scheme will result in the elimination of all discharges of storm sewage within Walverden Park and a significant reduction in the volume of storm sewage discharged to Walverden Water. All discharges of storm sewage will be fine-screened.   Any person wishing to make representations about the applications should do so in writing to L.
