THE ELECTRICITY WORKS (ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT)(SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2000

Notice is hereby given that SSE Generation Limited, company registration number 02310571 and office at 55 Vastern Road, Reading, RG1 8BU has applied to the Scottish Ministers for consent to construct and operate a wind farm near Strathy, Sutherland (Central Grid Reference 280600 530000) and for a direction under Section 57(2) of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 that planning permission for the development be deemed to be granted. The installed capacity of the proposed generating station would be up to 160MW comprising 47 turbines with a maximum ground to blade tip height of 135m. An application for planning permission was originally submitted to Scottish Ministers in 2007.

SSE Generation Limited has now submitted to Scottish Ministers additional information in the form of an addendum, which includes a reduction in turbine numbers from 77 to 47 in addition to an amended tip height and altered access route.

Copies of the addendum supplementing the Environmental Statement has been provided explaining the Company’s proposals in more detail and are available for inspection during normal office hours at:

The Scottish Government, Energy Consents Unit, 4th Floor, 5 Atlantic Quay, 150 Broomielaw, Glasgow G2 8LU or emailed to representations@scotland.gsi.gov.uk identifying the proposal and specifying grounds for objection or support, not later than 20th September 2013.

Representations should be dated and should clearly state the name (in block capitals), full return email and postal address of those making representations. Only representations sent by email to the address stipulated will receive acknowledgement. All representations to the Scottish Government will be copied in full to the planning authority.

Fair Processing Notice

The Scottish Government Energy Consents and Deployment Unit process applications under The Electricity Act 1989. During the consultation process letters of representation can be sent to Scottish Ministers in support of or objecting to these applications.

Should Scottish Ministers call a Public Local Inquiry (PLI), copies of these representations will be sent to the Directorate of Planning and Environmental Appeals for the Reporter to consider during the inquiry.

These representations will be posted on their website with personal email address, signature and home telephone number redacted (blacked out). Copies of representations will also be issued to the developer on request, again with email address, signature and home telephone number redacted.
