PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) (SCOTLAND) ACT 1997
FALKIRK TOWN CENTRE CONSERVATION AREA
Notice is hereby given that on 12 January 2010, under Section 61 of the above Act, Falkirk Council designated a new boundary to the Falkirk Town Centre Conservation Area which cancels that designated by Falkirk District Council on 23 October 1979 and any previous designations.
The new designation includes land and property at:
Bank Street, Baxter’s Wynd, Bean Row, Burnhead Lane, Booth Place, Chapel Lane, Cockburn Street, Cow Wynd, Dundee Court, Dundee Court - Melrose Place, East Bridge Street, Glebe Street, High Street, Hope Street, Kerse Lane, King’s Court, Kirk Wynd, Lint Riggs, Manor Street, Manse Place, Mission Lane, Melville Lane, Melville Street, Newmarket Street, Upper Newmarket Street, Orchard Street, Park Street, Penders Lane, Princes Street, St. Crispin’s Place, Tolbooth Street, Vicar Street, Weir Street, West Bridge Street, Williamson Street.
The immediate effect of such a designation will be that the consent of the local authority will be required for
- the demolition of any building and the removal of or works to any tree within the area
- certain external works which would, in the opinion of the local planning authority, affect the character or appearance of the Conservation Area i.e. painting/cladding, utility storage, telecommunication apparatus, hardstanding and built extensions beyond certain limits.
A plan showing the boundary of the new Conservation Area together with a street index and associated background papers is available for inspection by the public during normal office hours on weekdays at the following locations:
