WATER ENVIRONMENT AND WATER SERVICES (SCOTLAND) ACT 2003
THE WATER ENVIRONMENT (CONTROLLED ACTIVITIES) (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2005 (“THE 2005 REGULATIONS”)
“Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Regulation 13 of the 2005 Regulations, that an application has been made to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) by Kirkintilloch’s Initiative for authorisation to carry out controlled activities, namely:-
1) Construction of a 64 metre long; 3.1x2.1m precast reinforced concrete box culvert at the Cult Burn at NGR NS 6665 7159.
2) Construction of a bridge over the Cult Burn at NGR NS 6644 7087. Total length of abutments being 40metres.
3) Construction of a 28 metre long; 2.1metrex2.1m precast reinforced concrete box culvert at the Cult Burn at NGR NS 6649 7065.
4) Construction of a bridge over the Cult Burn at NGR NS 6660 7200. Total length of abutments being 50 metres.
5) Construction of a concrete pipe vented causeway with 12 number of 1.5m diameter pipes each approximately 40m long at NGR NS 6665 7159.
6) Construction of a bridge over the Bothlin Burn at NGR NS 6636 7243. Total length of abutments being 45metres.
7) Construction of a 30m long; 2.7m x 1.5m bridging precast reinforced concrete box culvert at the Canal Feeder at NGR NS 6635 7225.
8) Realignment of the Cult Burn at NGR NS 6649 7020. Length of original channel affected 260m; length of new channel 240m.
9) Realignment of the Cult Burn feeder at NGR NS 6649 7020. Length of original channel affected 15 metres; length of new channel 50 metres.
10) Realignment of the Bothlin Burn at NGR NS 6648 7228. Length of original channel 290 metres; length of new channel 320 metres.
11) Realignment of the Cult Burn/Bothlin Burn confluence at NGR NS 6648 7228. Length of original channel affected 40mteres; length of new channel 95 metres.
12) Realignment of the Bothlin Burn at NGR NS 6648 7228. Length of original channel affected 275metres; length of new channel 210 metres.
13) Construction of 50m of green bank reinforcement on the left bank of the Bothlin Burn at NGR NS 6648 7228.
14) Construction of 40m of green bank reinforcement on the right bank of the Bothlin Burn Canal Feeder at NGR NS 6648 7228.
The construction period of Kirkintilloch’s Initiative Kirkintilloch Link Road is between 1 February 2008 and 31 August 2009
“Any person affected or likely to be affected by, or having an interest in, the application may make representations about the application to SEPA in writing within 28 days beginning with the date of this advertisement, at the following address: The Registry Department, SEPA, 5 Redwood Crescent, Peel Park, East Kilbride, G74 5PP, quoting reference number CAR/L/1022388.
“A copy of the application may be inspected free of charge, at the above address, between 9.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except local and national holidays), or by prior arrangement at the Glasgow Office, SEPA, Law House, Todd Campus, West of Scotland Science Park, Maryhill Road, Glasgow, G20 0XA, telephone 0141 945 6350.
“Written representations received within 28 days of this advertisement will be taken into consideration in determining the application. Any such representations will be placed in a public register unless the person making them requests that they should not be. Where such a request is made there will be included in the register a statement indicating that representations have been made which have been the subject of such a request.”
